On to Buddy Holly the Texan whose ivy league look and oversized black plastic eyewear made the geek look a sheek look in the 50s (sheek is usually spelled “chic” but to change the “G” in geek to “Sh” seemed more fitting at the time lol!). Buddy Holly’s eyewear look made a comeback as recent as 2008.
Texan Willie Nelson’s rugged jeans, flannel plaid shirts, bandanna, aviator sunglasses, and worn out T shirts are the perfect mix for a go easy day…even till this day!
This Corpus Christi native beauty recently left us but her feathered, tousled, and flipped mane will live forever….R.I.P. Farrah Fawcett.
Now let’s go to more recent times and speak of Texan Erykah Badu and how her carefree style made a head rag cool when worn properly….oh and I have to mention her Neo-Retro look that I adore.
The glitzy beautiful Texan Selena who wore embellished bras under jackets with jeans and boots at her shows.... embellished cat suits…Selena was a Tejano style icon in the 90s!
Texan Eva Longoria is forever gracing magazine pages/style blogs for her classic style and beauty.
And last but not least BEYONCE…do I need to go on? This Texan’s name should be in the dictionary as BEYONCE: The look most referred to when a female is in full HOT AND FIERCE mode. How many times have you heard one say “Girl she thought she was Beyonce!”? B keeps the salons buzzing...the icon that transformed and grew right before our eyes had a few ladies in each age group trying to do the same!
And with that I introduce to you “DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS…STYLE” blog…a blog that will focus on Texas style! From candid photos (of both KNOWN and UNKNOWN Texans), photo shoots, veteran designers, up and coming designers, and wardrobe stylists...it will be ALL TEXAS ALL THE TIME. A tedious task it may be as some have told me Texas is one of the most style starved states (Try saying that 3 times in a row lol). My plan is not to prove the Texas style nay-sayers wrong but to show love to Texans (native or migrated) that embrace style and fashion as much as I do. Also there will be photos of the stylish ones that were “spotted in Texas”, it’s only right to show our stylish visitors some southern hospitality!
Stay tuned for weekly updates in 2010!
Have a Merry Christmas and blessed New Year!
