 It's GUMBO season right? A soupy bowl full of a little of this, a sprinkle of that, and a pinch of this. Whitney, the Image Consultant behind Image Maven, has write ups in regards to...yall ready? THE HOUSTON DESIGNER...

I took notice of this designer while reading HOUSTON FASHION WEEK info online. Her name caught my attention because she and I shared the same last name. I then viewed her work...I'm sure her final pieces started off as a sketch, then the cutting, measuring, the fittings on the dress form...I don't see how designers do it! But I'm SO glad they do it...they provide the pieces of the puzzle that help us finish the picture, love them for that. Stoi shined during HOUSTON FASHION WEEK and I salute her for her patience...don't know her personally but you have to embody patience to design. And I salute her for bringing her thoughts to life, stay encouraged Stoi! Here are a few of her pieces that caught my eye instantly...and you can view more of her work on her website and FACEBOOK:

WIDE OPEN FOR BUSINESS...

Wides are back in business...actually wide has never left as far as an office job goes. But ladies this Fall/Winter, if you haven't already, let's mix in a pair of wide legs after office hours! Skinny leg pants/jeans aren't going anywhere...let the calves breathe for a minute LOL. The 3rd outfit in this write up is for BREAST CANCER AWARNESS MONTH...this month is coming to a quick close but please remain aware.

PEANUT BUTTER and JELLY with a SIDE OF STYLE...

I wish I could say I'm solely inspired by celeb style, stuff I see in the mall (starting to dislike malls seriously BTW lol), or fashion magazines (However, there's still much inspiration between those pages)...if I could say that it'll make more "sense" to me. But I wanted to share one of my strange STYLE inspirations that came about instantly while I was making my goddaughter a peanut butter and jelly sandwich *side eye* (LOL). While making the sandwich and looking at the ingredients I thought hmmmm...well the end result of my thought = the image below. Have some?

A TEENAGE LOVE...

Wow...this week flew by! I have to rewind back to 10/16/10, the day I made a young man's day and he made mines! Young people (teenagers) seem to show me and SIDE OF STYLE more love than anybody on this style journey...and to get love from the future means ALOT to me. Since this young man shows me love every time I post a men's look, in the SIDE OF STYLE FACEBOOK MEN'S SAMPLES ALBUM, I decided to go through my styling kits, throw some looks together for him, and let him have at it! And that he did LOL

TODAY'S MENU: FALL LADYLIKE WITH A SIDE OF STYLE

I'm seriously craving a hint of ladylike this season...

THAT HOUSTON GIRL (in black) and THAT HOUSTON BOY (in black)...

Black is such a safe color...a color that is somewhat nonexistent but can make an outfit pop like NO other color. First I spotted this HOUSTON GIRL...the chic who dad drives a foreign car and her momma looks like a beauty queen. I love those lyrics, on Solange's song "The Bird", and I am absolutely loving her black ensemble with the pop of animal print! I then spotted a photo of this HOUSTON BOY, doing black so right I almost shed a tear of joy, on his Morehouse University journey. Mr. Marquis Phifer aka Mr. SO MATERIALISTIC-SO WELL CONNECTED-JUST ASK ABOUT HIM-HE SO WELL RESPECTED!  



TRILL STYLE 101...

 I happened to log on Twitter about 6 minutes after Kim Kardashian tweeted this: "The word trill really REALLY bugs me! Like who made that up???" And TEXAS replied quick! Since the UNDERGROUND KINGS existed that is a word that I, as a lot of Texans, heard a lot while growing up in Houston. And it's still a word that is used on a regular today...although there are not a lot of TRUE + REAL folks left (Lord knows I'm holding on to the ones in my life til the end!). One popular Texan, rapper Slim Thug, tweeted this as a reply (and it gave me the giggles): "She need to get some of this Texas @#%* I'll put her up on our slang...I blame Reggie Bush I woulda had her in the slab wit a white cup...They woulda changed the show name up to Keeping up with Kim and Slim!" I then thought I can actually see Kim all draped up and dripped out (Shouts out to the SUC) with Slim LOL! Rapper/Legend Bun B, one of  the creators of "Trill", attempted to start a Twitter trending topic with "#TellKimWhatTrillMeans"...it's simple...STAY TRUE, STAY REAL, AND STAY FAR FROM AVERAGE!

THE SAN ANTONIO WARDROBE STYLIST/DESIGNER...

I can't imagine being a Wardrobe Stylist and a designer...a designer that actually sketch, cut, and sew! Just the thought is tiring LOL...but I do salute the ones who can juggle both! Those like the Wardrobe Stylist/Designer of 4340 Agnes and Company and the fact that this company is "fashion with a cause" gives me a reason to salute again...I may have to get with my assiSISTERant and take a quick road trip to San Antonio, during San Antonio's Fashion Week, for this event!
