Houston’s Fashion Week: Style Has a New Name – HFIG
The word is out. Houston’s Fall Fashion Week presented by HFIG (Houston Fashion Independence Group) was a gem of an event and huge success in Fall 2010 presenting the latest collections of exceptional couture and luxury designers from Houston and around the region, stunning accessories, as well as performances and appearances by world-class entertainers and displays of luxurious fashion products by local, home-grown fashion design talent. The fashionistas were out, and in hi-style!
The next edition of the prestigious event will be held over another full week in April 2011. A January 13th launch party at the new HFIG design studios in River Oaks will kick off the Spring fashion season for HFIG.
New to Houston Fashion Week this season are designers: Rachel Griffin, Maria Montes, Denise Jackson, Priscilla Lee, Nena Ahamba, Alika Hall, Zayn Khalfan and Kennedy Haygood and Shawn Kingsley who is also the event producer.
Each collection is as unique as its designer and styles range from avant-garde to classic. Many of the ensembles that will be shown at fashion week are typical of those seen at the Oscars, Emmy and other red carpet events in Hollywood or New York. Many are well within reach of the well-heeled fashion maven, others are more suited for the princess. And, all of the garments are worthy of the ‘Made In America’ seal of approval; since, they are produced and manufactured right here in the United States – locally, to be exact.
Prominent sponsors this season include: Glaceau (Vitamin Water), Little Black Box Catering, Tito’s Vodka, Modern Beauty, Official Makeup Sponsor, Spamo, Runway Design, Mirabella Day Spa, Dionysus Salon, Kilted Coiffure and the Paul Mitchell School, Official Hair Styling Sponsors, Beauty N Art, Shawna Friedman and Samir Rihani, Official Photographers. Charity partners are: TBD.
HFIG’s Fashion Week, launched in Fall 2010, is held twice a year in Houston. It is in growth mode and is already attracting participants and visitors from around the world to the Space City. HFIG is poising itself as the only major event held in the city of Houston that is exclusively dedicated to offering a delightful spectacle of high fashion, theatrics and high-profile guests to over 5,000 attendees over a few days and post-event audience world-wide in the millions.
The Next HFIG Fashion Week event will be held Tuesday April 3 through Monday April 9, 2011 at The Houston Museum of Natural Science.
