THE AUSTIN CREATIVE DIRECTOR/FASHION DESIGNER...

"THE QUIET STORM" is what I'm calling Austin native Thomas Carlyle Ford, a.k.a. TOM FORD, right now! After a six-year absence from women's design this dude popped up during NEW YORK'S FASHION WEEK, a couple weeks ago, and debuted a private SPRING/SUMMER 2011 women's wear line. The runway show theme was  "The World’s Most Inspirational Women" which had the likes of Beyonce, Daphne Guinness, and Chanel Iman working the catwalk. Even though I read Ford only invited ONE photographer (no photos were to be released to the public at that time), I figured I'd let a few weeks pass and search for runway photos...so I searched, googled, and searched...and after all the fuss was made regarding how EPIC this runway show was I AM YET TO SEE ONE PHOTO from this show! He came, he saw, he conquered and left not a trace!
Not bad for a dude from AUSTIN, who spent his early life in the suburbs of HOUSTON and SAN MARCOS...and later went on to be Creative Director of GUCCI and YSL (where he bought LIFE and REVENUE back to both fashion houses during what almost was both of the houses darkest years 1994-2004). If you're ever in New YorkMilan, Las Vegas, Tokyo, Dubai, Zurich,or Russia stop in one of Ford's boutiques...even if it's just to window shop!

Click here to see the ones who were lucky enough to find their way to TOM FORD's top secret runway show...Mr. Ford was able to bring out the A-List during a rain storm!:

"COOL" is in Houston...

If you really knew me you'd know that I HEART VINTAGE clothing and style (Yes I stole the "If you really knew me you'd know..." line from that show on MTV lol)!! I took notice to Mr. Barkley Hendricks's work a couple years ago via an art blog...he combined the two (vintage clothing and style) to the point where it's SO REAL it's UNREAL! It took my breath away to know Mr. Hendricks's work has been on display here in Houston since January 30, 2010! Where have I been? After being mesmerized by his work online I can only imagine what it will be like to be in the same room with it...yep I'm excited! If you are in Houston you still have time to visit Mr. Hendricks's "BIRTH OF COOL" exhibition at  Contemporary Arts Museum Houston until April 18, 2011. More info can be found by clicking here: BIRTH OF COOL

THE HOUSTON STYLE STAR...

Yep...her again! Lately here it seems I can't blog about Solange enough! And then I noticed I'm not the only one...this Houston gal stole the show during New York's Fashion Week. A burst of colors, glam, vintage...I can go on for days about this young lady's STYLE! But I'll end it here with: Stay far from average ;-)

A word from: A HOUSTON WARDROBE STYLIST...

Remember OLD HOLLYWOOD or old black/white family photos? The ladies were chic, prim, sexy, and pulled together. I love to watch (Lucille Ball) "I LOVE LUCY" or spot a photo of Marilyn Monroe, regardless of how many times I see an episode or view a photo I never get tired of seeing their style. I can only imagine what it must've been like to work in wardrobe on those sets. Those days are loooooong gone but that style...THAT STYLE LIVES FOREVER! Below are my takes on "yesterday" using pieces of today.
